Generator Technician

Essential Duties / Responsibilities

  • Perform equipment, including but not limited to generator, switchgear, fuel tank, and enclosure inspections for all sites in Greater Minneapolis area at minimum monthly
  • Perform and prepare reports for SPCC sites monthly
  • Respond to equipment alarms, resets, issues, etc. as required
  • Provide regular updates to Service Manager on current or potential issues
  • Perform maintenance activities including but not limited to replacing filters, heaters, batteries, troubleshooting small issues
  • Assist with larger repairs in conjunction with Lead Generator Technician and / or 3rd party vendors
  • Complete paperwork in a neat, accurate, thorough, and timely manner

Minimum Requirements

  • Ability to work overtime with little notice; weekend hours may occasionally be required
  • Must have valid Driver’s License
  • Subject to physical, drug and alcohol testing, and background check requirements
  • Must value and practice safety, common sense, and good judgment
  • Comfort around mechanical equipment and willingness to learn power generation

Working Conditions

  • Majority of time spent in a field environment
  • Travel by company vehicle to and from generator sites up to five hours at a time
  • Regularly exposed to environments involving rotating and energized equipment, elevated work areas, confined spaces, noise, dust, hazardous materials, and odors
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing required PPE
  • Must be able to drive and operate a motorized passenger vehicle
  • Frequently performs tasks requiring climbing, bending at the waist, crawling, kneeling, crouching, lifting
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, masks / respirators, reflective safety vests, gloves, and safety toe work boots

Please Note : Salary offered will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s education and / or experience and consistent with the job location’s market pay rate.
