Job Summary

This position is responsible for building young disciples for Christ by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to the Student Ministry in the areas of worship, discipleship, mission, and outreach.

The Student Pastor creates programs, activities, and experiences to assist and inspire youth in their next step with Christ.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is an individual contributor and does not have direct reports. (Note : This position will lead a team of volunteers for the Student Ministry).

Essential Functions

  • Design, plan, and lead the Student Ministry program in conjunction with the church’s mission, goals and objectives.
  • Create and maintain a strategy to reach, assimilate, and engage youth and families.
  • Oversee all programming, curriculum, and ministry for the Student Ministry, including Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights, Online Worship, seasonal College Ministry Bible Study and other events.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding teaching materials and methods used in youth programs.
  • Develop tools with Youth Ministry staff on training, programs, events, and other matters.
  • Attend Sunday school, worship services, weekly staff meetings, and other church events as requested.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and lead volunteers.
  • Provide care for youth and families within the church, including hospital visits and follow-up.
  • Foster open communication with parents / guardians, either directly or through youth ministry team.
  • Attend and successfully complete all training required by Concord Church.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Theology, Christian Education, Education or other training from an accredited college or university.
  • minimum of 3 years of experience directing a youth ministry, including leadership of ministry team and leading a large volunteer team of 25+ is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of strong Biblical knowledge and comprehension and the ability to teach Biblical concepts in a practical manner both in a traditional church service and small group setting.
  • A minimum of two years developing and managing an annual budget and manages the disbursement of budgeted funds for the Student Ministry within the guidelines of the approved budget and in adherence with the purchasing policies of the church.

Physical Requirements

  • employee in this position primarily works in a typical office or sanctuary environment, is generally sedentary, and uses computers, calculators, phones, and other office equipment to draft documents, communicate with church staff, and fulfill other position duties.
  • employee in this position is required to walk, hear, speak, and stand to conduct sermons and minister to the members (both at the main church and at remote locations).

Work is conducted in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.

  • ability to manage stress, build professional and collaborative relationships, and reason through both complex church business situations and profound personal crises that members may experience is required.
  • flexible schedule is required since this position requires evening and weekend work due to scheduled events.

Travel Requirements

  • position is required to conduct services, visit church members, perform community outreach, and attend meetings away from the primary church location.
  • valid Texas drivers’ license and acceptable motor vehicle record is required.

This position is required to be a member of Concord Church. Employees in this position are expected to sincerely hold the same religious beliefs as expressed by Concord Church.
