Department Information

This position is located at the Sacramento Headquarters Office, Sacramento Regional Office, Berkeley Regional Office, Cypress Regional Office, Chatsworth Regional Office, or Clovis Field Office.

The Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) is a member of the boards, departments, and offices (BDO) within the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA).

Job Description And Duties

As an Assistant Chief Counsel, you will have the opportunity to :

  • Provide legal advice and assistance to the Department's management as the OLC's liaison to the Brownfields and Environmental Restoration Program.
  • Oversee legal consistency and formulates legal policy pertaining to the implementation of applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide legal recommendations and other legal support concerning proposed hazardous waste legislation and regulations.
  • Meet with the Deputy Director and other managers of the Brownfields and Environmental Restoration Program on a regular basis, to coordinate legal support.

Special Requirements

The position(s) require(s) a(n) California State Bar License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.
