Summary
This position supports the ongoing maintenance and maturation of National Life Group’s Business Continuity (BC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) programs.
The person in this role will support program management in ensuring program objectives are met so the company can be prepared for the next significant business disruption.
Primary responsibilities include assisting business and IT management in all aspects of the planning lifecycle, from ongoing data maintenance to plan creation and exercising.
Ideal applicants will possess a strong technical background and be comfortable navigating and maintaining large, complex datasets.
This position reports to the Senior Director of IT Infrastructure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of general program administrative tasks using BC / DR tools, with the goal of ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of critical data.
- Facilitate the collection of BC / DR recovery requirements with business / IT management.
- Facilitate the development and maintenance of BC / DR plans for existing and new processes in coordination with business / IT management.
- Assist program management in developing and executing BC, DR and IT Service Continuity exercises.
- Assist program management in executing its crisis management responsibilities, including both planning for and responding to actual events.
- Develop a deep understanding of the business and IT operations, processes, and systems that require business continuity and disaster recovery strategies.
- Train business and IT managers and their staff on their role(s) in BC / DR and how to implement leading recovery strategies.
- Assist with program action item follow ups and risk assessments as needed.
- Become an expert user in the business continuity module of our corporate GRC tool, RSA Archer, the CMDB module of ServiceNow, and our emergency communication tool, Everbridge.
This person is responsible for maintaining the systems and coordinating with other business units and vendors to ensure data is accurate and up to date.
- Communicate findings / results of the program with management, appropriate risk committees, and external auditors / regulators as needed.
- Create and distribute standard program reports to the appropriate levels of leadership.
- This position is presently onsite / hybrid with the expectation that you are in the office three days per week with current campus days being Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (subject to change with advance notification and manager discretion).
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Information Technology, Service Continuity, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity, Incident Response and / or related field(s).
- A deep-seated intellectual curiosity and aptitude to understand complex technical subjects.
- Strong computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office, web-based applications, and complex datasets / databases.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of management.
- Strong organizational and critical thinking skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks on an ongoing basis.
- Ability to work independently, with work product being reviewed by management.
- Aptitude for building strong relationships and working collaboratively within a team.
- Commitment to continual professional education and obtaining appropriate business continuity, disaster recovery, and / or IT service continuity related certification(s).
Preferred Qualifications
- A thorough understanding of technical infrastructure and systems, including hardware, software, and networking.
- Proficiency with Archer, Everbridge, and / or ServiceNow or other similar tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.

The base compensation range represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to qualifications, skills, competencies, location, and experience.
The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees.
Other rewards may include an annual bonus, quarterly bonuses, commissions, and other long-term incentive compensation, depending on the position.
