Job Description : Web Development Director

Position Overview : As a Web Development Director for the Professional Football League, you will be responsible for leading the development and maintenance of the League's digital properties, including its official website, mobile apps, and other online platforms.

You will oversee a team of web developers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless delivery of engaging and user-friendly digital experiences.

Your role will play a critical part in enhancing the League's online presence, fan engagement, and overall digital strategy.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Web Development Strategy :
  • Develop and execute the League's web development strategy, aligning it with the League's digital goals and objectives.
  • Stay abreast of emerging web technologies, industry trends, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements, goals, and KPIs for web development projects.
  • Team Leadership and Management :
  • Lead a team of web developers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support.
  • Delegate tasks, manage workloads, and ensure timely and high-quality delivery of web development projects.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting professional growth and development.
  • Website and Mobile App Development :
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of the League's official website and mobile applications, ensuring optimal functionality, performance, and user experience.
  • Collaborate with design, content, and marketing teams to translate business requirements and design concepts into functional web experiences.
  • Ensure responsive design and cross-platform compatibility for seamless user experiences across various devices.
  • Technical Implementation and Coding :
  • Lead the technical implementation of web development projects, including coding, scripting, and integration of backend systems.
  • Ensure adherence to coding standards, security protocols, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular code reviews to maintain code quality and identify areas for improvement.
  • Content Management System (CMS) Management :
  • Manage and optimize the League's CMS platform to streamline content publishing, update workflows, and enhance website performance.
  • Collaborate with content creators and editors to ensure smooth content publishing processes and content consistency across platforms.
  • User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) Design :
  • Collaborate with design teams to ensure effective UX / UI design integration into web development projects.
  • Advocate for user-centered design principles, conducting user research, usability testing, and feedback analysis to inform website improvements.
  • Website Analytics and Performance Monitoring :
  • Implement web analytics tools to track website performance, user behavior, and engagement metrics.
  • Monitor website performance, conduct regular audits, and implement optimization strategies to improve load times, SEO, and overall user experience.
  • Website Security and Data Privacy :
  • Ensure website security measures, including SSL certificates, encryption, and protection against potential cyber threats.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and implement necessary safeguards for user data protection.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Management :
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, content, design, and IT, to align web development projects with broader digital initiatives.
  • Communicate project updates, timelines, and deliverables to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and effective project management.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, web development, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience in web development, including front-end and back-end development, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Strong proficiency in web development languages and frameworks, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and relevant content management systems (CMS).
  • Experience with responsive design, mobile app development, and cross-platform compatibility.
  • Strong knowledge of web analytics tools, SEO best practices, and website performance optimization techniques.
  • Familiarity with security protocols, data privacy regulations, and best practices in web security.
  • Excellent leadership and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, delegate effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
