This position will be responsible for leading the transformation of TKE NA direct procurement spend into a best in class sourcing model that captures cost savings, spend discipline and reduction programs, as well as attaining highest procurement innovation to achieve total cost of ownership targets.
This transformation will drive best in class Cost, Quality, and Delivery from our global supply base for all internal TKE business partners.
The Director of Direct Spend will collaborate and partner with the Strategic Sourcing, Center of Excellence and Procurement Field Operations team inside PSM to leverage / use all supplier sourcing agreements via our procurement technology platform.
- Defining overall procurement strategic direction for planning, organizing, leading, measuring, and analyzing the sourcing of direct spend.
- Lead and grow multi-disciplinary senior category teams and enhance cross functional collaboration.
- Formulate strategy, recommend & implement solutions and adjust according to demands.
- Plans, develops, and implements business plans and budgets, including long range objectives, performance goals and metrics for each category by collaborating with Operations, Legal, Supply Chain and other teams as needed
- Oversee complex negotiations with suppliers with detailed strategic plans.
- Develop and set a multi-year supplier sourcing strategy that supports TKE
overall growth and business objectives, and understand the current and future supply base to position TKE in the market.
- Drive tracking and reporting for category spend areas.
- Maintain appropriate key performance indicators to effectively
manage current suppliers and ensure that all aspects of supply chain
agreements are being satisfied.
Serve as subject matter expert for competitive intelligence research on new technologies, capabilities, and materials and communicate out to the
internal customers and procurement teams.
Carry out extensive supplier due diligence via research, on-site supplier
evaluations, and overseeing rigorous TKE cross-functional supplier
qualification process.
Lead supplier selection to support TKE direct category vision, roadmap, and
strategy.
Execute commercial agreements and manage supplier relationships at the
executive level.
Work closely with cross-functional business partners to design spend
discipline programs.
- Define and implement supplier performance and development strategies, evolving TKE supply base to support category growth and manage risk.
- Collaborate with key internal teams to further embed sustainable and
responsible sourcing practices across the direct category spend.
Maximize the effective use of the procurement tools and implement a
procurement governance model.
- Establish and communicate policies and procedures toward standardization and efficiency of all purchases.
- Develop relationships with internal stakeholders to create a world class
procurement experience.
- Leverage advanced data analytic models to set targets and implement spend reduction efforts.
- Leverage online catalogs and ensure compliance to the requisition approval hierarchy.
Who we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or Engineering is required; Master of Business Administration or equivalent advanced degree is a plus
- 15+ years of strategic sourcing and supplier management experience
- Experience with ERP systems, Spend Data Analytics & Reporting, eSourcing and contract management systems required.
- APICS, CPSM, CPSD or equivalent procurement certification is a plus
- Six Sigma Black Belt experience preferred
- Expert level understanding of procure-to-pay (P2P) digital platforms.
- Knowledge of advanced strategic sourcing models and how to leverage them.
- Ability to create a best-in-class direct commodity strategies.
- Proven track record in leading procurement organizations and transformations
- Experience leading RFP processes across direct sourcing needs including 3PL providers and international freight carriers.
- Demonstrated experience building relationships with external partners and knowledge of various manufacturing processes.
