Apprentice Electrician
Position Overview :
HM Cragg is an 100% employee-owned company with an extremely impressive growth history. As a n Apprentice Electrician, you will be responsible for installation, maintenance and repair projects of electrical systems and components specifically focused on the Telecommunications, Wireless, Utility and UPS markets.
Reporting Relationship : The Apprentice Electrician will report to the Service Manager
Responsibilities / Accountabilities
- Ability to take direction from Journeyman Electrician
- Perform skilled electrical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems
- Perform the installation of transformers, control boards, electronic circuits, coils, circuit breakers, voltage regulators, switches, fuses, and related electrical equipment
- Perform installations of backup generator systems
- Determine modifications required when obstructions are met while installing electrical systems
- Read electrical blueprints, plans, and schematics.
- Develops strong line of communication with Electrical Manager / Master Electrician and within all departments utilizing electrical service
- Ability to work from wiring diagrams, schematics, sketches, blueprints, and / or verbal instructions
- Proficient in the use of standard electrician's tools and measuring / testing instruments such a multi-meter
- Perform other duties and assignments as necessary
Skills / Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of AC and DC circuits
- Knowledge of electrical principles, applications, techniques, procedures, code and equipment
- Knowledge of local and national electrical code
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Excellent attendance record
- Demonstrates proper use of material handling equipment
- Proactively stays up to date on safety training, compliance and knowledge of HAZ MAT and DOT requirements
- Adheres to company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook and Safety Policy

Travel expectations
Up to 75% depending on customer needs
Qualifications :
- High school diploma
- Minimum 2-years Electrical degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Ability to work at various heights
- Ability to lift items greater than 25lbs (and up to 150 lbs.) repetitively on a regular basis
- Ability to maintain a valid driver's license
- Must pass a physical exam, background check and pre-employment drug screening
