Position Summary :
At Playland, the Director of Finance is a leader within our creative organization and is responsible for planning, managing, and overseeing the Company’s financial and administrative activities.
Implements policies and procedures to ensure the proper accounting and strategic use of an organization’s funds. As an inspirational leader, you will cultivate, train, and lead your team and the Company to achieve our core business mission of creating shared experiences and stories for all who visit Playland.
The ideal candidate for this position will be a reliable professional with broad accounting, financial, and business principles knowledge.
They should also possess excellent communication skills, as well as outstanding interpersonal and leadership abilities.
The ultimate goal of the Director of Finance is to guide the company toward profitability and long-term success.
The starting salary is $190,000 annually, with salary and benefits depending on experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops financial well-being of the organization by providing financial projections and accounting services, preparing growth plans, and directing staff.
- Develops finance organizational strategies by contributing financial and accounting information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction and establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives.
- Establishes finance operational strategies by evaluating trends; establishing critical measurements; determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies;
designing systems; accumulating resources; resolving problems; and implementing change.
Develops organization prospects by studying economic trends and revenue opportunities; projecting acquisition and expansion prospects;
analyzing organization operations; identifying opportunities for improvement, cost reduction, and systems enhancement; and accumulating capital to fund expansion.
Develops financial strategies by forecasting capital, facilities, and staff requirements; identifying monetary resources;
and developing action plans.
- Monitors financial performance by measuring and analyzing results, initiating corrective actions, and minimizing the impact of variances.
- Maximizes return on invested funds by identifying investment opportunities and maintaining relationships with the investment community.
- Reports financial status by developing forecasts, reporting results, analyzing variances, and developing improvements.
- Updates job knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- Accomplishes finance and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
- Contract negotiation.
- Complete random and scheduled internal audit checks - not limited to employee files, maintenance records, and any other applicable company-wide records program virtual or hardcopy.
- Ensure all permits, licenses, inspections, and all other certifications required (operating or non-operating) are obtained and current whether obtained by the Company or a contracted third-party.
- Evaluate department best practices on an ongoing basis and make changes to improve service as needed.
- Enterprise Risk Management, procure Company insurance and monitor, manage, and improve the efficiency of the risk and compliance program.
- Available to participate in the Park Manager-On-Duty program.
- Other duties may be assigned.

REQUIREMENTS
- MBA or bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting; master’s degree preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant certification is required.
- Minimum of seven years of experience in accounting and financial management practices, preferably in the high-volume hospitality industry.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software (e.g., SAP).
- Solid GAAP and financial reporting technical skills.
- Excellent communication and follow-up skills.
- Ability to multitask and consistently lead and direct departments’ work.
- Ability to learn, adapt to new situations, train and develop team members, and direct reports.
- Possesses knowledge of good documentation skills.
- Ability to learn and use software for related operational functions.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business communications, manuals, and federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ability to write general business correspondence and communicate with vendors and co-workers.
- Exceptional management skills with a proven track record in mentoring / leading a successful team.
- Ability to budget and forecast, and direct expenses.
- Maintain sensitivity to all the policies adopted and established by the Company.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding financial and any other information when applicable.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, communication, coaching, team building, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be flexible to work extended hours due to business requirements, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly changing office / amusement park environment.
