Job Description
The starting pay range for this position begins at $16.32 / hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements.
Full Time : a position working 35+ hours per week.
The Antler Hill Farmyard Interpreter will provide support in agri-tourism programming for Biltmore Estate. Support includes positive interaction, clear communication, and delivery of programming narrative to individual guests.
Assistance with daily upkeep of the farmyard,and basic animal care to include cleaning stalls, providing fresh water, and daily feeding.
Essential Job Duties :
1. Communicate general and historical Biltmore and animal information to guests in a professional, positive and articulate manner.
2. Assist with day to day upkeep and cleanliness of the farmyard.
3. Assist with basic animal care to include cleaning stalls, providing fresh water, and daily feeding of animals in the farmyard proper.
4. Work together as a team and support each other with all tasks in a positive manner.
5. Adhere to all established safety protocols for team members, guests and animals.
Qualifications :
1. High school diploma or GED preferred.
2. Demonstrated commitment to providing gracious hospitality to internal and external service.
3. Ability to be proactive and take initiative where appropriate; should be comfortable anticipating and troubleshooting issues.
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; must be able to convey information clearly, concisely, and effectively, and be able to engage and interact with audiences of all age levels.
5. Ability to present a professional image and represent the company with a wide variety of groups in a manner consistent with company standards.
Physical Requirements :
1. Applicants must be at 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.
2. Be able to work in all types of weather, including extreme heat and cold, with fluctuations in temperature and conditions.
3. Must be able to list / pull / push up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
4. Must be able to stand / walk for extended periods of time.
5. Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, reach overhead and below.
6. Full range of motion to be able to interact with animals and provide care / treatment..
7. Ability to work effectively in an environment with exposure to dirt, dust, pollen, animal hair / feathers, chemicals, and other particulates.
