General Summary
Orum Therapeutics is seeking an entrepreneurial business development professional, that will forge new high-value relationships to out-license and partner Orum’s platforms and assets.
Reporting to the Head of BD (based in Lexington) the candidate will work closely with the BD Sr. Manager currently based in Daejeon, and across Orum’s various functional groups, including the R&D team, to help to identify, evaluate, negotiate, and close new business opportunities and strategic partnerships.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Core part of team to establish, evolve and execute Orum’s BD strategy.
- Identify the most compelling external opportunities for out-licensing Orum’s platform technology and pipeline assets, and prioritize at a pace to enable high quality decision making.
- Partner with Orum’s R&D team to explore and evaluate in-licensed or collaborative opportunities that can complement internal research and development efforts.
- Manage a matrixed, cross-functional team of Orum colleagues when leading deal processes.
- Structure transactions and negotiate with prospective partners, and drive deals forward through Orum’s governance and decision-making process.
- Strengthening relationship with potential external partners throughout the deal process.
- Develop and maintain an expert understanding of the scientific and asset landscape and competitive intelligence to ensure visibility to emerging opportunities and changes in the biopharmaceutical industry.
- Lead competitive intelligence and positioning exercises to support Orum’s partnering and platform / product development efforts.
Skills, Abilities & Competencies
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in life sciences.
- 10 years of experience in scientific research and / or business development within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry and / or experience in healthcare consulting or investment banking.
- Established network within the pharmaceutical industry, with a demonstrable track record of leveraging existing relationships for successful partnerships.
Strong BD and scientific network in oncology and immuno-oncology preferred.
- In-depth understanding of the pharmaceutical deal landscape, including licensing agreements, collaborations, and strategic partnerships.
- Track record of successfully closing transactions and collaboration agreements - please submit a summary deal sheet along with resume
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific and business concepts effectively.
- Proven ability to think strategically and identify opportunities that align with the company's mission and objectives.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and contribute to a positive and innovative work culture.
- Executive level presence with an ability to effectively interact and present written and verbal communications.
