OVERVIEW

We are a family owned and operated General Contractor in North San Diego County specializing in high-quality Retail and Commercial Construction.

We are seeking an experienced Project Accountant to join our team and help contribute to our growth and success in the years to come.

The ideal candidate for our company will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while quickly adapting and learning their responsibilities.

Over their first 30 days, they will demonstrate a growing proficiency in the requirements of their position from beginning to end, ensuring that their responsibilities are completed accurately and on time.

Please note this work is on location and in person. This is not a remote position.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The chosen candidate will accurately navigate accounting software such as Sage 100 and Microsoft applications such as Teams, and will be responsible for, but not limited to the following competencies :

  • Complete job set up.
  • Review owner contract and identify terms for the purpose of billing.
  • Review monthly subcontractor invoicing and communicate with Project Manager to prepare the monthly owner draw, bill on schedule, and in accordance with owner requirements.
  • Submit monthly draws and record in Sage 100, follow up on payment status, owner approval of draw and compliance issues.
  • Conduct monthly audits of all reimbursable costs & bill owner.
  • Process and track all general conditions and material purchases in Sage 100 and send to AP for payment, noting all NTE items and communicating with Project Manager on over budget items.
  • Verify compliance for all subcontractors prior to releasing payment, including joint checks to suppliers.
  • Manage preliminary notices, collecting releases according to owner / contract requirements.
  • Manage multiple clients and billing platforms.
  • Work independently or as a member of a team.
  • Manage time and meet deadlines.
  • Reconcile with the Project Manager all completed projects and verify that each project is billed as complete, including reimbursables.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 years Construction Accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in Excel (SOVs, Pivot Tables), MS Office, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to adapt and learn various owner billing platforms.
  • Intermediate to advanced Sage 100 experience.
  • Professional written and phone / email communication.
  • Positive team player with a can-do attitude.
  • Critical Thinking Skills and ability to solve problems.
