JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Database Administrator (DBA) works with the Agile teams on the design, installation, and maintenance of our database environments for on-premise as well as Cloud system configurations.
The Senior Database Administrator applies expert level knowledge of server, database, network, and operating system troubleshooting skills to support highly available systems in a 24 / 7 / 365 environment.
In addition to optimizing our database / server environment, the Senior Database Administrator is expected to provide guidance, direction, and project management skills.
The Senior DBA will be expected to develop database strategies, perform higher level administrative tasks, evaluate costs associated with projects while remaining current, and projecting future hardware needs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
This person will be part of the senior level engineering team able to function with little supervision or direction. He / she will have the following responsibilities :
Install and maintain the performance of database servers.
Develop processes for optimizing database security.
Set and maintain database standards.
Performance tuning of database systems.
Install, upgrade, and manage database applications.
Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors.
Recommend and implement emerging database technologies.
Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.
Create automation for repeating database tasks.
Be available for on-call support as needed.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems preferred.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in Information Ssystems building and maintaining database environments using Microsoft SQL Server
Strong command of Microsoft SQL and SQL server tools version 2016 2022
Experience with Microsoft Azure SQL
Experience with Azure Cosmos DB
Strong knowledge of Cloud technologies Azure, ARM, BICEP, Kubernetes, Helm
Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling
Familiarity with SSIS and SSRS
Familiarity with Rubrik backup solutions desired
Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge
Strong knowledge of MS Operating systems
Strong knowledge of PowerShell scripting
Strong problem-solving skills
Good knowledge of storage design and implementations
Good knowledge of MS servers and MS Apps and implementations
Good knowledge of the software development lifecycle and configuration management; specifically Waterfall and Agile development methodologies
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of .Net framework and services preferable
Solid business and technical background Knowledge of Information Security best practices
Other duties as defined by the manager
Salary Range : $120,000 to $130,000 annually depending upon experience.
This position is also eligible for an annual bonus based on the successful completion of defined performance objectives.
