Accounting Manager

GENERAL PURPOSE

The Accounting Manager will oversee and direct all general accounting activities including maintenance of accounting systems and standards and delivery of key financial management reports.

This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting principles. Experience with project management, the construction industry, and QuickBooks accounting software is highly desired.

The ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including project managers, finance personnel, and senior management, is crucial.

A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required, and a CPA or other relevant certification is preferred.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversees general accounting department systems, policies, practices, and procedures.
• Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
• Tracking budget variances, monitoring expenses, and conducting research and analysis.
• Provide day to day bookkeeping to include reviewing and processing all accounting documents related to invoicing, receipts, and financial statements.
• Management of Company's multiple bank accounts, ensuring that all financial obligations are met, and that all financial documentation is complete and accurate.
• Oversees preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.
• R esponsible for presenting and explaining financial information to management including budget forecasts, cost reports, and financial trends related to the business.
• Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
• Improves and implements financial controls, ensuring accurate control and accounting of assets and accounts.
• Works with external accounting firm for tax planning throughout the fiscal year, filing of annual corporate tax return and supports on international transactions and tax implications.
• Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
• Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
• Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Maintains knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in the accounting profession; applies this knowledge to recommend and implement process and policy changes.
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Thorough understanding of cost accounting principles and procedures.
• Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite especially with Excel and Word.
• Proficient with or able to quickly learn the accounting software used by the organization (QuickBooks).
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or Business Administration required. Master's degree preferred.
• At least five years of general accounting experience with at least two as a manager of an accounting department required
• Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.
