Purpose
The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for managing all staff activities related to cleaning and sanitizing the plant and facility for his / her assigned areas.
This involves leading, directing and organizing of hourly sanitation employees in the cleaning of equipment and facility to guarantee the production of food safe products, and verifying that each crew has met the 8 steps of sanitation prior to calling for QA verification.
Summary of Responsibilities
- This position supervises department personnel and operations to ensure sanitation standards are maintained in accordance with Company policies and regulatory agency requirements.
- Ensure that all equipment is thoroughly clean by the 8 steps of sanitation and ready for QA PreOp inspection.
- Ensure that all sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOP) are followed.
Responsibilities
- Actively manage the workflow of all Sanitation staff on the floor during each sanitation shift.
- Responsible for executing all company safety and chemical safety training.
- Train employees about proper handling of chemicals.
- Meet First Time Quality Goals as measured by ATP swabs and QA inspection.
- Meet productivity goals including labor efficiency measurements, chemical usage goals and other measurement as determined by the company.
- Develop new and improved methods for cleaning the plant while maintaining all sanitary standards.
- Evaluate employee performance and identify corrective actions needed for improvement.
- Evaluate the sanitary design of current equipment and equipment layout and work with Maintenance, Production, and QA to make sanitary design improvements to equipment and equipment layout.
- Work with QA Supervisor to assure compliance with SSOP’s.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and work cooperatively with Sanitation leadership to solve.
Qualifications
- Experience in managing diverse teams in a complex system.
- Experience with managing staff regulated by food industry GMP's.
- Experience with food safety systems (HACCP, USDA, FDA, 3rd party audits).
- Experience with food sanitation systems (8 steps sanitation, CIP / COP systems, PreOp inspection).
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Prior experience with chemicals safety / hazards.
