Purpose / Introduction
Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem) is seeking a Reliability Systems Senior Engineer to join the Central Engineering organization located in The Woodlands, Texas.
The successful candidate will report to the Corporate Reliability Manager in Central Engineering and work closely with leaders, subject matter experts, and reliability teams across the company to lead continuous improvement, develop reliability improvement plans, oversee design for reliability for projects, and support the Asset Performance Management digital platform (APM) that enables reliability at CPChem.
Responsibilities
- Supports requests from production units and / or facilities regarding assistance related to APM
- Supports immediate reliability engineering requests from production facilities
- Utilizes advanced analysis methods and techniques (i.e., Crow-AMSAA, Weibull, Pareto, Life Cycle Cost Analysis) to support reliability improvement plans
- Consults across the company regarding application of advanced reliability engineering tools and processes
- Serves as a technical consultant or team leader on large or multi-facility reliability initiatives
- Provides solutions to companywide reliability problems using in-depth operations, reliability and maintenance knowledge
- Leads Incident Investigations associated with complex system and equipment-related failures
- Develops reliability improvement plans to minimize recurring performance problems on simple to complex equipment and equipment systems

- Understands when and how to utilize external reliability resources to solve technical issues
- Effectively influences facility operations and maintenance work groups to implement asset integrity and reliability improvement initiatives
- Develops and improves Key Performance Indicators / Metrics associated with reliability performance
- Optimizes reliability work processes to achieve sustainable equipment performance improvement
- Effectively influences unit, site and company leadership to implement reliability improvement initiatives by demonstrating the business case using data based recommendations
- Utilizes benchmarking data to identify gaps and initiative gap closure plans
- Champions the application of reliability standardization among facilities
- Mentor interns, entry-level and experienced engineers to use reliability engineering tools and processes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline
- Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in the chemical / refining industry
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in reliability and / or maintenance
- Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proven manufacturing experience with demonstrated ability to apply reliability engineering skills
- Business acumen and the ability to influence management investment decisions
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- Minimum of twenty (20) years’ experience in the chemical / refining industry
- Minimum of ten (10) years' experience in Olefins and Polyolefins
