Primary Duties
The Information Governance Manager is responsible for implementing, executing, and enforcing enterprise information governance policies, standards, and processes.
The role requires a deep understanding of data and information management including the tactical management of both physical and electronic records, as well as information management technology and systems, information security, data protection, and the ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements related to information, including privacy.
The Information Governance Manager is also a primary contributor to process improvement efforts related to information governance efforts at Spark.
Responsibilities
The Information Governance Manager will :
- Work with the VP, Senior Associate General Counsel (Governance & Operations) to prioritize initiatives and enhancements to improve records management, information security, data protection, privacy, legal holds / eDiscovery, and overall information governance capabilities.
- Provide guidance and develop and maintain information governance trainings, FAQs, SOPs, guidance documents, and other self-service tools for internal stakeholders, including company intranet site.
- Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to understand the full scope of information and data management needs, identify and mitigate risks associated with information assets, and recommend improvements and adjustments to information governance programs as needed.
- Support the selection, execution, management, and optimization of information governance tools and technologies and provides operational support for projects relating to company data, including artificial intelligence endeavors.
- Serve as a primary contributor in collaboration with IT to the development of best practices and procedures related to managing electronic information repositories and the documentation of the means by which data is collected, shared, utilized, protected, cleaned, and stored.
- Review and revise records retention policies and schedules and work collaboratively with team members to create and implement strategies for management of both paper and electronic records across all systems.
- Manage operational document control processes to ensure proper retention and retrievability of physical and electronic records and data, and coordinate analysis of files stored in company approved records repositories, including to identify those records that are eligible for destruction.
- Contribute to initiatives to drive changes in working practices and culture to accelerate the adoption of electronic recordkeeping practices.
- Serve as a primary contributor to the development, implementation, and management of information security, data protection, and privacy policies and procedures, and in identifying and managing risks relating to same.
- Oversee the management of the legal hold process and coordinate the identification, collection, and production of potentially responsive information related to eDiscovery needs.
- Network and collaborate with cross-functional teams and colleagues from other Roche entities to align on best practices, joint projects, and other company-wide information governance initiatives.
- Identify the need for, assist in developing, and deliver trainings to business stakeholders on information governance legal requirements and company policies and processes.
- Implement and execute on information governance tasks, projects, and programs.
- Serve as a role model for best practices in records, information, and data management, protection, and security; and other duties and special projects as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Candidates with an educational background from a wide variety of disciplines including information technology, legal, compliance, information management, library science, and / or records.
management will be considered.
- Information governance, project management, or privacy certification preferred (e.g., IGP, CRM, CRA, PMP, CIPP)
- 7+ years’ experience in a role(s) relating to information governance, records management, data protection, risk management, privacy, information technology and / or e-Discovery.
- Pharmaceutical or life science industry experience preferred.

Independently works on tasks that are moderately to highly complex in nature where autonomous judgment is regularly required to make recommendations and resolve issues.
The Information Governance Manager must be able to identify and mitigate risks associated with the development and implementation of the information governance program, and to establish clear priorities and coordinate resources across the business in an organized manner.
They must also possess the ability to facilitate and present on information governance strategy and execution to all levels of company personnel.

Spark takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training, and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, and external market and internal value when determining a salary for potential new employees.
The base salary range for this position is currently from $113,600 to $170,400.
