Our dream candidate is a creative person who will help elevate our parks and recreation department by making our ideas beautiful through your marketing efforts! This position is for someone who shares our vision and enjoys promoting everything from memberships & fitness classes to programs, events, parks and pools! Joining us also means that you will be a part of our leadership team.

You will work some early mornings, nights and weekends as the manager on duty and attend the events and programs we offer.

To fit in with the team you will need to be ready to tackle immediate marketing needs and assist us in planning and presentation for all events.

Our department is small but mighty and offers a variety of quality facilities, events and programs and we need a Marketing and Communications genius to reflect this.

Because of our great sponsorships and donations, we are able to keep everything we do affordable for our members and guests! You will also need to come with an attitude ready to help us foster relationships with donors and sponsors, for all we do.

Below are some of the essential duties and responsibilities of the position :

  • Coordinates the marketing of recreation programs, events, facilities, operation updates, rentals, membership and services through a variety of media.
  • Coordinate member and resident communications through various marketing methods.
  • Coordinates sponsorship and partnership promotions and activities for the department.
  • Create and design print marketing including department brochures and marketing pieces (Fliers, posters, banners, etc.).
  • Creates, produces, and distributes innovative social media content. Engage and respond to our social media community.
  • Website maintenance; updating graphics and verbiage.
  • Create and design content for Reach TV system (internal).
  • Create monthly email marketing campaigns to promote programming, events, and facility updates.
  • Write creative marketing materials for all platforms.
  • Work with community organizations and businesses to promote our department.
  • Distribute program information on other websites.
  • Press releases for media for events.
  • Implement membership and program promotions as needed.
  • Creates an annual marketing plan for the department.
  • Prepare and follow a marketing budget.
  • Provides customer service to the general public in a tactful, professional and pleasant manner.
  • Understands and enforces rules and regulations governing facility use and emergency procedures.
  • Oversees daily operations including staffing when serving as Manager on Duty.
  • Photograph events & programs as needed.
  • Manage pictures for our archives to be utilized in future marketing efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing & Advertisement, Parks, Recreation, Tourism or other related field, plus two years of related work experience or other equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certified in First Aid and CPR, or completion of certification within three months of hiring. Certified Parks and Recreation Professional preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge and comprehension of community recreation and park programs including accepted standards, principles, concepts and related legislative mandates.
  • Principles and practices of personnel supervision.
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms and best practices.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and use social media data to inform decision making.
  • Computer programs such as Google platform and RecTrac.
  • Marketing programs such as Canva and Adobe preferred.
  • Photograph events, programs, facilities, etc.
  • Creative writing.
  • Communicate effectively in interpreting policies and procedures and in resolving conflicts or personnel problems.
  • Demonstrate professional public relations skills, effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Work days, evenings and weekends.
  • Supervise subordinates.
