Data Analyst
Data Support Analyst, Wealth Management
This individual contributor role sits in the Wealth Management Business Data Operation Team and reports into the Chief Data Officer’s organization.
Individual is expected to work independently as well as part of a team.
Primary responsibility is to improve data quality across the Wealth Management.
Responsibilities include :
- Diligently working on assigned intake items associated to a data quality issue
- Build authentic relationships with business and IT partners
- Analyze large datasets or business processes and perform root cause analysis on reported data issues
- Identify process breakdowns, manual activities that could be automated, system integration concerns, training needs, and / or policy changes required, etc.
and clearly articulate the reason for the issue to have occurred
- Investigate alternatives to fix the identified issues by developing mitigation strategies
- Document recommendation to strategically fix the root cause. If technology work is required, help write business case to obtain funding for remediation
- Facilitate and oversee the implementation of those mitigation activities
Qualifications - External
Skillset needed :
1. Accurately interpret non-conformances appearing on data quality reports and investigate possible causes.
2. Perform statistical analysis using SQL, modeling, and other quantitative techniques in order to resolve business data issues and / or recommend courses of action to mitigate those issues.
3. Utilize strategies that reduce data issues with a bias for preventing recurrence, and increase the consistency / confidence of data used for decision making, improving knowledge firm-wide.
4. Participate in periodic reviews to ensure continued compliance to both Enterprise and Wealth Management data governance policies (includes compliance assessments, monitoring and control testing) and standards.
5. Resolve conflicting priorities among data owners, data consumers, and custodians, especially across organizational lines.
6. Collaborate with partners across the Wealth Management business and outside (Corporate Functions and Technology Teams) in maintaining data quality controls ensuring we are meeting business needs while balancing quality, risk, and cost.
7. Work efficiently and respectfully with other team members to support Wealth Management applications, such as Operational Data Store, Product Catalog, and Data Warehouse.
Qualifications
- A College or University Degree in related disciplines (Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, etc.)
- 2-5 years of relevant work experience. Financial Services background is preferred.
- Knowledge of Data Governance and Data Management principles and best practices.
- Effective in communicating the role of Data Management to both business and technical communities.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- In-depth functional knowledge (e.g. root cause analysis).
- Highly flexible and adaptable to change.
- Technical skills, e.g. SQL.
