The Implementation Consultant works with customers to implement various Descartes solutions. The most common implemented solutions related to this role are U.
S. Customs brokerage and foreign trade zone management applications. The Implementation Consultant participates in, owns, and leads customer projects.
These projects typically consist of business process analysis, solution design, installation, configuration, testing and go-live activities related to the implementation of Descartes' solutions.
The Implementation Consultant is also responsible for training activities related to the implementation and deployment of Descartes' solutions.
Responsibilities
- Establish Statements of Work and Project Deliverables.
- Understanding client requirements, providing recommendations, and offering solutions.
- Analyze, assess, and define the success of the project.
- Design and execute training plans for and directly with customers on Descartes' proprietary products and solutions.
- Interface with customer IT / IS department to facilitate software configuration and design changes.
- Conduct data analysis and data validation to identify errors within customer data or software output to produce clean / compliant / usable data sets.
- Implement and configure Descartes' proprietary applications and solutions.
- Planning and scheduling project activities while tracking the project milestones to meet agreed timelines.
- Support our clients through their integration development activities by providing best practices recommendations
- Management and communication of engagements, scope changes and issue escalations.
- Create and maintain all required project documentation.
- Configuring the software and assisting the clients during Go-Live events.
- Respond to customer application problems and provide post-implementation technical support based on a detailed understanding of the functional conceptual features of Descartes' proprietary software and applications.
- Create and document future client business processes based on software to be implemented, including interface requirements.
- Daily time management tracking with billable utilization targets.
- Regular travel is not required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science / Engineering, Information Technology, Supply Chain / Logistics Management, or related field of study is required.
- 3 - 5 years of related experience is required.
- Working in FTZ, Customs brokerage, or freight forwarding environment a plus
- Superior verbal and written communication skills that will be used to communicate individually and via conference room and virtual settings.
- Ability to operate independently in a highly ambiguous and fast-paced environment.
- Ability to quickly learn and explain technical concepts to Descartes's largest customers.
- Experience documenting business goals and transforming those into requirements and delivering a solution that produces the desired ROI, preferably within logistics or transportation operations space.
- Experience with delivering live training and coaching users through the initial phases of the solution adoption.
- Experience mapping data between 2 different systems.
- Experience in software implementation and deployment of logistics-based business applications
- Experience managing projects including time management and scope change management
- Experience working as part of an implementation team
- User training experience
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to gain deep understanding of customer business workflows & processes, as well as the ability to convey recommended solution, deployment, and customer workflow enhancement recommendations
- Superior client management skills
- System testing experience
- Effective time management
- Demonstrates an understanding of the scope and issues relevant to transportation and logistics software implementations
- Applies technology and business knowledge to solve business problems

- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

- Report Creation in Query / SQL
- Practical experience specifically in systems implementations for a software vendor or similar company
- Experience creating / reading XML documents.
- Demonstrated capability to manage and deliver successful projects
Location
This is a remote position based out of your home office. #LI-Remote
Salary Range : $60,000 USD to $70,000 USD. Compensation information provided is a good faith estimate for this position only.
Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills as well as the years of experience you have.
Similar positions located in different geographic regions will not necessarily receive the same compensation or same currency.
