GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION :
This position oversees Tutoring and Supplemental Instruction by coordinating daily activities and supervising the tutors and supplemental instructors.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to, hiring, budget, payroll and time entry, employee evaluations, ensuring quality customer service.
The Academic Support Specialist facilitates faculty outreach, marketing, and student recruitment. They will assist the Coordinator of Academic Support & Tutoring in providing training for peer support programs and responding to student and faculty needs.
This position receives general direction from the Coordinator of Academic Support & Tutoring and exercises support staff supervision.
NOTE : This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

WORKING CONDITIONS :
Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard / Exposure-Standard office setting.
At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
QUALIFICATIONS :
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :
Education : Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university
Experience : More than three years of work experience in education, with at least one year of experience as a supervisor
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Education : Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
