Title : Test Engineer / Technician
Location : Elmhurst, IL
Hire Type : Long Term Contract
Salary : $28-34 / HR
Must have : Ability to lift 25-50LBS
Job Duties :
Set up and conduct various types of design validation testing, for example :
a) RF (radio frequency) : Open field range, sensitivity, short and long term frequency stability, etc.
b) Environmental performance : extreme temperatures and humidity (familiarity with programming and using environmental test chambers)
c) EMC (Electromagnetic Compliance) : ESD (electro static discharge), EFT (electrical fast transient), surge, emissions, etc.
Ability to design and build basic to medium difficulty test setups, including building electronic board assemblies, configuring instruments (data loggers, thermometers, spectrum analyzers, timers, counters, etc)
Qualifications :
Minimum of 3 years experience conducting design validation testing in an engineering lab environment :
a) Product Specifications (can be any combination of functional, mechanical, electrical, regulatory compliance, EMC, etc)
b) Test procedures. The test technician needs to read and understand these, to understand what the "spirit" (objective) of the test is.
c) Electrical schematics.
Interacting with the Design Engineers, to fully understand what exactly is needed, clarify questions, unexpected product behaviors, etc.
Providing periodic updates as the tests progress
Good observer to catch and report errors to engineers
Write accurate, complete and concise test reports.
