Job Summary
This position serves the District of Columbia Department of Employment Services (DOES). The incumbent works as a Quality Assurance Specialist within the Office of Paid Family Leave (OPFL) and is primarily responsible for performing quality assurance reviews and conducting new hire orientation and job training.
Duties and Responsibilities
Incumbent interviews, registers, and places applicants according to occupational codes. Counsels applicants to identify needs and / or problems and to determine appropriate action required or referral to be made.
Refers applicants to appropriate specialized services for testing. Incumbent screens applicant files against Job Bank listings and refers qualified applicants to jobs.
Assess customers and identifies eligible program participants. Incumbent provides applicants with pertinent labor market information, and job training opportunities that aligns with their need.
Incumbent provides one-on-one assistance to maximize the use of resources. Researches and identifies suitable training providers.
Completes documentation required for training referral through individual training accounts or contracts for special populations.
Incumbent conducts presentations and conducts orientations on eligibility and program services. Incumbent provides career advice, researches and provides customers with information as it relates to educational and school options, tuition, books, uniforms, and equipment.
Collects, organizes and analyzes information about customers, including records, tests, interviews, and professional sources, to asses their interest, aptitudes, abilities and personality characteristics for vocational and career planning.
Instructs various job preparation classes, including resume, employment application, and cover letter writing. Conducts individual and group sessions on job search readiness, techniques, labor marke information, and vocational information.
Attends staff and other meetings as required.
Qualifications and Education
Specialized Experience : Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
To be creditable, one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.

Tour of Duty : Monday Friday, 8 : 30 am 5 : 00 pm
Operating Status : In-Person reporting, flexible and limited telework options available upon position eligibility and operational needs.
Pay Plan, Series, and Grade : CS-0142-11
Salary Range : $74,893 - $96,547; based on available funding.
Duration of Appointment : Career Service Term, NTE 13-Month
Collective Bargaining Unit : This position is not covered.

Position Designation : This position has been designated as protection sensitive therefore the incumbent of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC Personnel Regulations, Suitability and as such, incumbents of this position shall be subject to criminal background checks, background investigations, and mandatory drug and alcohol testing, as applicable.
Residency Preference : When claiming residency preference, you are required, and must agree in writing, to maintain bona fide District residency for a period of seven (7) consecutive years from the effective date of employment.
You will be required to present documents (proofs) to show District residency and failure to maintain bona-fide District residency for the seven-year (7-year) period will result in forfeiture of employment.
