The Institute of Human Nutrition (IHN) in collaboration with the Department of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics at Columbia University in the City of New York, seeks candidates for Assistant Professor in the tenure track.
The IHN fosters a network of researchers at the cutting edge of their disciplines, all working together to advance the fields of nutritional and metabolic biology.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. and / or M.D. / Ph.D. or equivalent degree, an outstanding record of research accomplishments showing high level of productivity in their field and the potential to secure external funding and excellent teaching credentials.
The successful candidate will use cutting edge technologies in the field of cellular, tissue and organismal metabolism in physiological and pathological conditions.
Responsibilities include establishing a rigorous and independently funded research program in metabolic biology, supervising and mentoring students with diverse background.
Successful candidates will be expected to participate in the teaching and mentoring of Masters students and PhD students within the IHN as well as other graduate training programs.
All recruited IHN faculty will be fully supported by a structured mentoring and career committee.
Successful candidates will be appointed to the Department of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics within the Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons (VP&S) of Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) and Columbia University (CU).
They will be an integral part of a highly collaborative group of faculty working in a broad range of areas related to metabolism.
Faculty in IHN are associated with the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and may have membership in other Institutes and Centers, including the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center, Columbia Stem Cell Initiative, and the Taub Institute, and have the opportunity to interact with faculty at Columbia University’s Morningside and Manhattanville Campuses.
