About MCAP

MCAP is a non-profit agency dedicated to providing legal advocacy and mentorship to abused and neglected children in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.

Our mission is to end and prevent child abuse and neglect in Montgomery County through legal services, advocacy, and education.

Established in 2004, MCAP offers children the ability to heal from horrific abuses with the help of pro-bono specially trained lawyers.

Located in Norristown, Pennsylvania, MCAP continues to grow serving more and more children each year and offering the community educational resources.

Summary

The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for ensuring MCAP provides the highest quality of service and advocacy for child victims of abuse, neglect, and trafficking, providing a vision for the organization's growth and development, ensuring the agency's ongoing financial viability and monitoring, evaluating, and responding to environmental trends and changes.

This position has oversight over a wide range of senior management positions at MCAP, including Deputy Director, Director of Legal Operations, and Development Director.

This position also represents MCAP with stakeholders and community partners by participating in community activities and serving on regional and local collaborative committees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains and / or enhances cooperative relationships with the individuals, institutions, and public agencies responsible for developing policies and distributing funds.
  • Prepares the agency internally to meet emerging community needs.
  • Provides vision and strong leadership to the agency and to anticipate and respond quickly to new opportunities and challenges as they arise.
  • Ongoing evaluation of multi-year strategic plan as approved by the Board of Directors.
  • Leads, motivates, and coaches direct reports.
  • Establishes and maintains mutually beneficial strategic alliances with other legal entities, the judiciary, law enforcement and social services agencies.
  • Assures spirit of teamwork and accountability; delegates responsibility with a willingness to step in when needed.
  • Provides direction and oversight of policy and strategy for assets, resources, fundraising initiatives, and enterprise ventures.
  • Responsible for overall financial management.
  • Cultivates both potential and current funders.
  • Works to inspire donor investments by providing high quality services and involving funders in discussions about emerging needs and programs.
  • Ensures a sound fiscal position through effectively managing an operating budget as approved by the Board at the beginning of each fiscal year.
  • Prepares annual budget in conjunction with MCAP's Senior Management Team and Board Officers and ensures compliance with all rules and regulations.
  • Serves as key spokesperson for the agency.
  • Builds and maintains strong ties with local government and business leaders.
  • Serves as liaison to the Board and all board committees or assigns a designee.
  • Completes a year-end report for the Board of Directors.
  • Other duties, as needed.

Requirements

Experience and Education

  • Attorney in Good Standing in PA or Bachelor's Degree required (master's degree preferred) in social work, public administration, non-profit administration, or other relevant disciplines.
  • Minimum of 5 years of non-profit managerial experience, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years supervisory experience.
  • Understanding of grants, donor solicitation and fundraising techniques is preferred.
  • Knowledge of domestic violence issues, sensitivity to the needs of child victims of abuse, neglect, and trafficking, knowledge of community resources and a willingness to understand all of the MCAP's programs.
  • Understanding of the harm and effects of child abuse, trauma caused by abuse, and trauma informed practices to address the needs of children and families in crisis.
  • Knowledge of collaborating with law enforcement, social service providers, counselors, and first responders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, comfortable with public speaking.

  • PA State Police Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, and Federal Fingerprint-based Criminal Background Check
  • Complete MCAP's training and PA-mandated reporter's training

Monday through Thursday 8 : 00 am - 5 pm, Friday flexible
