Insurance Authorization Specialist are responsible for obtaining insurance verification and pre-authorization for patients seen at the Radia outpatient centers.
Possess in depth knowledge of insurance requirements. Maintains strong working relationships with Radia business office staff, Radia outpatient centers, Radia partner facilities and referring provider offices.
Compensation : Hourly salary range $22.37 / hour to $32.34 / hour. Salary is based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and employment status.
Shift : Monday - Friday
Responsibilities
Verify insurance and potential necessity for pre-authorization. Determine appropriate insured, policy, group and billing addresses of primary, secondary, and tertiary insurances.
Recognize and follow MSP (managed service provider), ABN (advanced beneficiary notice), and COB (coordination of benefits) rules for each payer (when applicable) in addition to performing ICD-10.
- Communicates updates and changes to insurance verification and pre-authorization requirements and processes to patients, as well as key internal and external customers.
- Documents information in patient accounts and records, as needed. (resources)
- Demonstrate positive personal interaction skills when working with Radia internal and external customers.
- Identify problems and communicate to supervisor, offering solutions as appropriate.
- Participate on Radia teams, as needed.
- Demonstrate flexibility of work schedule to meet the needs of Radia.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of health insurance, ICD-10 and CPT coding
- Medical terminology
- Computer skills
- Ability to provide great customer service
- Ability to work as part of a team
Education and Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Previous medical office experience.
- 1-2 years experience working as an insurance verifier, preferred.
