POSITION SUMMARY

At Envision Child Development Center in Wichita, KS, the Licensed Preschool Teacher plays a pivotal role in providing exceptional care and education to children aged 2.

5 years to school age. This position involves creating a nurturing and inclusive environment that supports both typically sighted children and those with visual impairments.

Responsibilities include developing and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum, ensuring child safety and supervision, adapting teaching methods for diverse needs, engaging with parents, and pursuing professional development.

Hours of Operation : Monday Friday, 7 : 00 am 5 : 30 pm

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE

Curriculum Development and Implementation :

  • Design and deliver a developmentally appropriate preschool program.
  • Plan and conduct indoor and outdoor activities suited to children's developmental stages.
  • Encourage play, exploration, and learning through engaging activities.

Child Supervision and Safety :

  • Communicate positively with parents daily.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
  • Conduct weekly observations to monitor children’s progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Lead and observe child playtime outside as scheduled.

Inclusive Teaching :

  • Tailor teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of both typically sighted and visually impaired children.
  • Collaborate with educators and specialists to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Utilize assistive technologies and resources to support the learning experiences of visually impaired children.

Parent Engagement :

  • Build strong relationships with parents and families.
  • Provide regular updates on children’s progress and address any concerns.
  • Encourage family involvement in the child’s educational journey.

Professional Development :

  • Stay updated on best practices in early childhood education.
  • Attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance teaching skills.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve teaching effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

Education :

Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field, Required.

Experience :

Previous experience in an early childhood development facility, preferred.

Knowledge / Skills :

  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability.
  • Knowledge of inclusive teaching practices.
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies for visually impaired children.

Licenses / Certifications :

  • Valid state teaching license or certification, Required.
  • Current CPR / First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

VISION REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE :

Can be performed with or without assistive technology :

Required to perform activities such as : preparing / analyzing data / figures; viewing a computer screen; reading; inspecting small objects for defects;

using measuring devices; and / or assembling parts with close eye contact.

Required to perform activities such as : operating machinery and / or power tools at or within arm’s reach; performing non-repetitive tasks such as carpentry work or repairing machinery.

X Required to review / inspect own assigned work, the work of others, or facilities or structures.

Requires normal (or corrected to normal) vision / acuity :

Required to operate motor vehicles and / or heavy equipment such as forklifts.
