JOB SUMMARY

The Retail Buyer is responsible for curating and managing the product assortment and strategy across all Movement locations nationally.

This role requires a strategic thinker who can collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors to ensure that our product offerings meet the demands of our customers and reflect the latest trends in climbing.

The Retail Buyer will play a key role in bringing the product assortment to life, from selection through to in-store presentation and performance monitoring.

This position requires a proactive approach to merchandise management, combining strategic buying with effective inventory and performance analysis.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement, and manage the assortment and investment strategies that align with our business goals, taking into account industry trends and customer preferences.
  • Work closely with vendors and the retail analyst to select merchandise assortments that are optimized for sales performance and customer satisfaction.
  • React dynamically to business needs identifying opportunities for product chases, cancellations, and transfers to achieve or exceed sales targets.
  • Create and analyze product selling reports, seasonal hindsight’s, and ad-hoc reports to communicate product performance and opportunities.

Make tactical assortment adjustments to capitalize on opportunities.

  • Coordinate replenishment orders to ensure product availability. Monitor inventory levels, track stock turnover rates, and other industry KPIs.
  • Collaborate with retail analyst to develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts to ensure efficient inventory management and meet future customer needs.
  • Plan and coordinate with cross-functional partners on promotional campaigns and product launches to drive traffic and sales.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to ensure that product displays are visually appealing and effectively enhance the customer shopping experience.
  • Act as a product expert for the development of training materials, marketing content, promotions, and other cross-functional ad-hoc projects.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years in merchandising or buying, preferably within a multi-location brick and mortar company
  • Experience and expertise in climbing gear preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills in merchandise planning and inventory management
  • Flexibility and Agility ability to quickly understand, assess, and problem-solve in a dynamic environment.
  • Passion for climbing culture and understanding of climbers' specific needs.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • The pay range for this position starts at $66,000 and may increase based on experience and qualifications
