Primary Purpose of the Position

The Department of Music is seeking an Adjunct Professor to teach a selection of courses in the areas of strings, music history, and / or other courses, depending on departmental needs and candidate experience.

The Adjunct Professor must have a demonstrated ability to teach courses in the area of strings. The candidate must also be able to cultivate learning environments that are equitable and inclusive of students with diverse social identities and backgrounds.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The music program offers a broad range of learning experiences inside and outside the classroom to diverse students. Our music curriculum prepares students to meet opportunities in an evolving global marketplace critically, creatively, and / or artistically.

Program completion will lead to careers as well as advanced studies in music and / or other disciplines.

Minimum Experience / Education

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Music or a related field, from an accredited institution.
  • Two or more years of experience in related field.

Department Required Skills

The department also provides instruction in music to students majoring in other disciplines as part of the university’s general education requirements and in an effort to promote the study and enjoyment of music as necessary for healthy and enriched living.

Instruction is provided by faculty committed to teaching effectiveness, scholarship, and service toward the enhancement of the artistic and cultural life of the university and the greater community.

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Music or a related field, from an accredited institution.
  • Two or more years of experience in related field.

  • Doctorate Degree in Music or a related field.
  • Three years or more of teaching experience at the college level.
