The Pharmacy Cashier is the face of a pharmacy, interacting with customers on a daily basis, helping them to check out, while delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
This position plays an important role in keeping the pharmacy organized and clean.
The Pharmacy Cashier is a full-time, scheduled to work 40 hours per week, 12 months a year. This position reports directly to the Pharmacy Manager.
Required Job Qualifications Education
High School Diploma or GED
Experience
Six months of experience as a cashier in a retail environment

- Previous experience working in a pharmacy
- Experience working in a retail / customer service setting

Essential Duties Job Duty Category Cashier Duty / Responsibility
- Operate the cash register, process payments, and issue receipts
- Make sure prescriptions are given to the right patient
- Verify patient identity / authority to pick-up prescriptions
- Collect and enter insurance information
- Interpret all pharmacist and technician notes and proceed accordingly
- Follow all policies for completing a sale for special medication categories
- Balance the register at the end of each shift
- Other duties as assigned

- Greet customers and patients as they enter the pharmacy
- Answer customer questions in person and on the phone, referring them to the pharmacist when necessary
- Help customers with over-the-counter selections

- Stock shelves and keep the pharmacy clean and organized
- Refill paper and labels in the printers
- Refills vials, lids, and bags
- Take out trash, recycling, and shredding

- Assist in maintaining invoices
- Maintain confidentiality of all health information (HIPAA)
- Follow all safety protocols
