LHH has partnered with an outstanding nonprofit organization in downtown Washington, DC to identify a Tax Accountant! This position will be an instrumental piece to all things tax and will have the opportunity to handle various types of tax filings, tax reconciliation, and general ledger activities.
Job Responsibilities :
Prepare state, federal, and sales and use tax returns.
Maintain tax exemption data for sales, value added tax, and goods and services taxes.
Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile tax accounts in the general ledger, and prepare workpapers.
Review and maintain compliance policies according to current and changing regulations and document and update tax policies and processes.
Participate in and make recommendations for process improvements and system upgrades for the tax department.
Communicate directly with state and federal agencies.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA designation preferred.
3+ years of tax accounting experience ideally within a nonprofit setting.
Experience with ERP systems.
