Calvin Giordano & Associates, a SAFEbuilt company, is currently seeking a talented and experienced Utilities Technician. This position offers great opportunity for dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of work assignments.

You'll be a member of our highly respected team with a full complement of resources to support you and exciting projects to keep you challenged.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• This position requires the repair and maintenance of the City's water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
• Reports directly to the Utilities Supervisor.
• Requires an individual that can provide an extremely flexible work schedule to include 24-hour, 7-day emergency service for water and force main breaks and disaster and hurricane situations.
• Inspects and performs repairs, replacement and maintenance of water, wastewater and lift station equipment including pipes, valves, pumps and meters.
• Responsible for daily monitoring of all lift stations citywide.
• Analyze runtime reports and performance graphs (trends) to diagnose problems and prevent failure.
• Responding to any system alarms.
• Work with contractor on all hardware and software maintenance issues.
• Inspects work completed by contractors and vendors involved in the operations and maintenance of City's infrastructure
• Plans, prioritizes, and coordinates maintenance activities with contractors, as needed.
• Operates emergency generators for lift stations.
• Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents; reports all accidents and damage to City property.
• Utilizes Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) work order systems to review and perform assigned tasks, activities, and projects.
• Participates in the training of new water and wastewater employees.
• Perform assignments during Emergency Operations per the City's National Incident Management System (NIMS) organizational chart.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS :

• Knowledge of water distribution and wastewater collection systems component and maintenance procedures.
• Knowledge of water and wastewater health regulations concerning the safety and well being of general public
• Skills in reading maps and prints
• Ability to perform and / oversee complex maintenance duties and operate related equipment
• Knowledge of work order software (CMMS) is beneficial
• Knowledge of principals and practice of construction, maintenance, and repair of typical public works maintained infrastructure.
• Ability to read and understand operations and maintenance manuals, construction drawings, and plans and specifications, as needed.
• Ability to obtain required NIMS certifications (IS-700, ICS-100, ICS-200)

LICENSES AND EXPERIENCE :

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of operations experience in the Public Works arena working with water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Water Distribution System Operator License - Level 3 or higher, is preferred.
• Posses a valid Florida Driver's License and has an acceptable motor vehicle record.
