Job Summary
Loudoun County's Department of General Services is seeking qualified applicants to fill a Crew Chief vacancy within the Public Works Division.
- The successful candidate will supervise and direct the daily activities of a crew of Public Works Technicians in areas of stormwater inspection and maintenance;
- train staff & execute inspections for detection and elimination of illicit discharges to the stormwater system to meet VPDES discharge permit requirements;
- oversee street sign manufacturing, installation, and repair to meet County, State, and Federal standards; oversee routine maintenance and repairs of water and wastewater at County facilities;
manage contracted commercial vendor services; and supervise landscaping and grounds maintenance.
- This position develops and implements work schedules, coordinates completion of work projects and monitors project status;
- ensures maintenance of machinery and equipment; directs field and shop activities of Public Works technical personnel in response to County emergencies and snow related events;
and directs staff activities in support of the Office of Elections and Voter Registration, as required.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent; four (4) years of experience in stormwater and grounds infrastructure maintenance and repair including two (2) years of work leader or supervisory experience;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Forklift License, Work Zone Traffic Safety and Flagging certificate, and Commercial Pesticide Applicator certificate are preferred.
Job Contingencies and Special Requirements
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal, credit, and DMV record background check.
Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record are required. Hold or obtain a valid Class "B" CDL within six (6) months of hire.
Must pass pre-employment drug / alcohol screening and meet annual CDL / DOT requirements and comply with the Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Program as outlined by Loudoun County's Alcohol and Controlled Substance Testing Policy for Transportation Employees.
This position is considered "essential" and may be subject to call to respond to County emergencies. Must be able to lift up to seventy (70) pounds.
