Description
The Actuarial Analyst will be responsible for developing and maintaining actuarial models to support the monthly / quarterly valuation and analysis for both life and annuity blocks of business and conducts profit studies, as well as performing actuarial modeling, Statutory reserving, attribution analysis, Cash Flow Testing and ALM risk analysis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assists in the conversion of actuarial valuation systems.
- Develops and tests actuarial modeling changes and enhancements in ALFA and other actuarial systems, including regression and unit testing.
- Helps to establish the asset modeling techniques to project the asset cash flows including certain structured assets.
- Supports the integration of new products into the corporate in-force model.
- Interprets and analyzes ALM risk results from actuarial models.
- Creates and maintains thorough model documentation, including business requirements, test plans and ultimately release memos.
- Prepares monthly / quarterly valuation runs, verifies results for accuracy and reasonableness; and analyzes reserve movements period over period.
- Assists with annual Cash Flow Testing reporting for the life and annuity blocks and monitor financial results.
- Maintains and improves appropriate control environment for modeling and reporting.
- Provides support for internal and external audit inquiries.
- Supports the Actuarial team and other departments on an as-needed basis.
- Willingly takes on additional responsibilities as requested in order to accomplish department and Company objectives.

- Advanced computer skills and the ability to navigate multiple systems and programs including Microsoft Office, proprietary systems and other technology solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills are required, including a high degree of professionalism.

Training or Work Experience :
- Minimum 1 year of experience with annuities and life insurance preferred
- Preference is given to actuarial students that have passed at least one Actuarial exam (through the Society of Actuaries)
Education :
Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Finance, or Statistics required
Working Conditions :
- On-Site Location : Wes Des Moines, Iowa
- Mostly off-site
- Business Travel : Infrequent travel (less than 5% of the time)
