ABOUT THE ROLE

As Business Development Officer (BDO) , your primary responsibility is generating new business to the Bank to help drive growth and achieve the overall bank goals.

  • Acquire new client relationships for the Bank.
  • Retain existing Bank client relationships.
  • Grow business with existing client relationships.
  • Drive increased profitability across the Bank’s client base.
  • Meet or exceed annual individual loan and deposit goals for the year.
  • Act as the liaison between the client and various other Bank functions to provide seamless client service.
  • Represent SCCB in the community.
  • Travel will be required to meet with clients and attend networking / community events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Generating new clients and servicing existing Bank clients.
  • Maintaining a track record of success in developing new business, growing market share and establishing / growing a quality network.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, executives, and other departments.
  • Developing referral sources and contacts to generate new business.
  • Consulting with Relationship Managers and Credit Officer when credit proposals are developed and presented to customers.
  • Working with the Relationship Managers to assist in gathering appropriate historical financial data and developing proposals.
  • Consulting with Relationship Managers and Credit Officer during the due diligence process as information is gathered on customer’s financial status and lending needs.
  • Checking in with Relationship Managers and Credit Officer to assist, if requested, to obtain renewal packages.
  • Identifying specific business needs of customers and assisting the Relationship Manager, when appropriate, on loan structure with the customer and Credit Officer.
  • Participating in sales events or industry-specific seminars as required.
  • Individual goals are dependent on the success of new business opportunities generated for the Bank and retention of existing customers.
  • Using general office equipment, including Microsoft Office and bank software.
  • Using personal automobile when needed (to be reimbursed).

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS :

Incumbent must be able to perform all the essential duties of the position satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Solid sales history, generally gained through a minimum of 7 years previous experience at a financial institution.
  • Proven success in generating new business at a financial institution.
  • Proven ability to provide excellent client service.
  • Thorough understanding of and experience in the local market with a solid base of contacts.
  • Thorough understanding of bank products and services.
  • Excellent communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is in regular communication, is required to use various tools or objects, and has the mobility to move about the office.

The employee occasionally lifts and / or moves objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK :

This is a full-time position that regularly requires long hours and occasional weekend work.

TRAVEL :

Travel is primarily local during the business day.
