General Definition of Work
The director of school improvement and data integration, under minimal supervision, performs senior level work with considerable decision-making discretion applying advanced subject matter knowledge and methodology to data integration in the district with the goal of improving student outcomes and decision-making.
The position involves overseeing the technical aspects of the work, collaborating with district staff, and overseeing the School Improvement Plan process.
Employee performs advanced work to carry out Board of Education policies and procedures under the direction of the associate superintendent of data and governance.

Place of Work
The normal place of work is on the premises used by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools reserves the right to require you to work at such other place(s) as it may reasonably require from time to time.
Essential Functions
- Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
- Lead, manage, supervise, and evaluate assigned programs / staff in the district
- Investigate, analyze, and formulate methods for handling special projects / reports
- Manage multiple large-scale projects and initiatives under the umbrella of School Improvement and Data Integration, with project teams made up of CMS staff and partners, to deliver high-quality solutions and services (e.
g., EVAAS, School Improvement Planning, data use training, etc.)
- Collaborate to define the School Improvement and Data Integration project parameters and to develop detailed documentation outlining the program, including requirements, project plans, and project schedules
- Translate partner requirements into specific plans and tasks using knowledge of the school system, the accountability model, curriculum and instruction methodologies, technology resources, and best practices in delivery methodology
- Oversee the maintenance of accurate records, reports, and inventories
- Participate in the division budget development process; demonstrate use of cost-effective procedures in fiscal management
- Prepare executive summaries, progress monitoring updates, presentations, or other documents as requested
- Facilitate staff meetings and attend other related meetings as needed / required
- Complete local, state, or federal surveys and reports accurately and promptly
- Participate in professional development workshops and leadership training
- Create an inclusive environment with positive communication / public relations

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Comprehensive in-depth knowledge and understanding of the principles, practices, and procedures of public school system policies and data use for school improvement
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements applicable to data use for school improvement
- Thorough knowledge of county and school board policies, procedures, and standards regarding academics and testing
- Knowledge of the North Carolina Standard Course of Study / Common Core and Essential Standards
- Knowledge of databases, statistics, and graphical software
- Ability to reflect appropriate response to situations, while maintaining a professional and personal demeanor
- Ability to learn and use specialized tools, equipment or software related to business needs
- Ability to develop and monitor a budget
- Ability to direct and evaluate the work of others

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, education, or related field required
- Master's degree and five (5) years' experience in data analysis and integration preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
Special Requirements
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license or ability to provide transportation
- Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings
