Who We Are
Action for Children is the local child care resource and referral agency in Central Ohio. Our mission is to transform the lives of children by supporting, empowering, and advocating for the adults who make the biggest impact on children’s lives their parents, caregivers, and teachers.
What You’ll Do
Drawing on your knowledge of early childhood care and education, you will provide education and technical assistance to family childcare providers participating in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
Coaches provide ongoing in-home monitoring and yearly nutritional trainings. Coaches also provide linkage to professional development opportunities, along with coaching and technical assistance to support their efforts to achieve and maintain quality standards.
This is a full-time position, requiring travel within Central Ohio and occasional evening / weekend hours. CACFP participants with Action for Children’s CACFP program are located within 12 Ohio Counties.
This position is currently responsible for participants in Franklin, Delaware, Morrow, Marion, Crawford, Richland, Allen and Licking counties but travel may be required to Union, Madison, Pickaway, and Fairfield counties.
This is a hybrid position, with occasional in office work and regular travel to Family Childcare home programs in the counties above.
Successful candidates will have
- AA / AS in Nutrition, Early Childhood Education, Human Development & Family Studies, Human Ecology, Public Health or related field
- Experience working with adult learners in a coaching or training capacity
- Experience in the Early Childhood Care & Education field
- Ability to work productively and positively with people from various backgrounds
- and cultures
- Familiarity with or knowledge of the Child and Adult Care Food Program, USDA Nutrition Programs, or child nutrition
- Skill and confidence with caseload management
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proficiency with technology and experience with Microsoft Office Suite and database software
- Understanding of how race, gender, and class intersect to shape conditions for early childhood educators, child care programs, and the children and families they serve
- A desire to contribute to a workplace and profession which values collaboration, diversity, growth, and respect for all people
Desired but not Required
BA / BS in Nutrition, Early Childhood Education, Human Development & Family Studies, Human Ecology, Public Health or related field;
Direct work experience with Family Child Care
- Knowledge of / experience with commonly accepted business practices, professional development, Step Up to Quality, and / or pre-licensing within the child care profession
- Ability to speak Spanish, Arabic, Somali, or other non-English language; signing bonus available for fluent speakers
- Knowledge of community resources and supports for families and childcare providers
