The Office of the Registrar is looking for a new team member to become a subject matter expert in UM student record data, working with staff, faculty, and students across campus.
Reporting to the Associate Director of Information Services, the business systems analyst will lead the student administrative and survey research targeted email process, LARC provisioning activities, support ad hoc student data needs of the campus community, assist with official reporting, and contribute to ongoing NCAA student athlete academic eligibility certification.
The successful candidate is curious and analytical, exceptionally concerned with data quality, and has the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- 35% Deliver high quality data products and ad hoc queries upon request to a group of highly varied campus and external customers, including departmental staff, EOs, and national / state media
- 30% Lead the student administrative and survey research targeted email process. Administer Proper Use policies and create population files for each email.
Assist with defining requirements, testing, communication, and training for system enhancements
- 15% Manage access and audit controls to LARC, a research focused student record data set
- 10% Assist as needed with completion of required federal and state reporting
- 10% Assist with student athlete academic eligibility certification and NCAA reporting as needed
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Two years of related experience including query / report writing and data analysis
- Demonstration of a strong analytical and logical foundation
- Strong demonstrated understanding of relational database technologies, query tools, and data integration methodologies
- Proficiency with MS Access and Excel
- Ability to meet multiple competing deadlines with excellent attention to detail
- Strong ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Oracle / Peoplesoft Student Information Systems, SAP Business Objects, SQL Developer, and Tableau
- Experience with NCAA academic certification and reporting
- Dedication to quality customer service
