Construction Inspector/Engineer Supervisor - Southern NJ

Job Responsibilities

Pennoni Associates is currently seeking a Construction Inspector / Engineer Supervisor or in the Southern NJ area, preferably meeting qualifications with experience consistent, but not limited to :

Inspection Supervisor / Manager responsibilities include :

• Supervising field inspectors and performing inspections on roadway, bridge, or other transportation improvement projects.
• Review and understanding of drawings, specifications, contract documents
• Communicate and coordinate with contractors, designer, owner, project team, and the public.
• Performing mathematical calculations based on appropriate field measurements.
• Witnessing material tests such as soil compaction, concrete, and asphalt as determined by project need.
• Preparing clear and concise daily field reports in a timely manner, which includes photographs.
• Creating as-built drawings of completed work.
• Able to work construction hours, which may include overtime.

Required Attributes

• High School Diploma / Associate's Degree
• NICET Certified (Highway Construction) minimum Level III
• Valid Driver's License
• Six years minimum of transportation, highway or bridge construction inspection experience.
• BS Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred but will consider non-engineers based on relevant experience and certification levels.

Registered Professional Engineer a plus

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Applicants should have good verbal and written communication skills, math skills, and be able to work well in team setting on one or more projects either as an acting Resident Engineer or Resident Inspector
• Must be willing to safely work outdoors in differing weather conditions, near heavy equipment and construction operations, within highway work zones and be physically able to perform field work.

Preferred Attributes :

• Prior experience in NJDOT, NJ Local Aid or NJ Turnpike Highway and Bridge Construction Inspection. Familiarity with New Jersey specifications, standard drawings and other relevant NJ / FHWA publications and forms.
• Additional certifications including ACI, NJSAT, NJ Work Zone Traffic Control Coordinator, OSHA 10 hour,
• Experience in preparing Contractor Estimates and Change Orders
• Ability to work periodic night and weekend work a plus
