Job Summary :

The Instructional Designer is responsible for developing education courses in support of WM new hires, acquired employees, and incumbent CSS and Advisors.

Duties include consulting with subject experts to improve their course designs, transferring courses into online formats and creating course manuals for employee use.

Essential Job Functions :

1. Develop Learning Programs

  • Develop and maintain scalable platform for operational training of advisor teams and corporate resources
  • Conduct needs analysis to determine training needs and deliverables
  • Consult with business partners across geographies to define and craft the learning strategy and plans
  • Design, develop, and build new, engaging, and effective blended learning solutions
  • Promote collaboration, partnership and relationships among the participants and stakeholders
  • Create feedback loops to determine overall learning effectiveness and areas for improvement

2. Content Creation and Management

  • Responsible for development of new learning content and maintenance of existing learning content; maintain database of all materials
  • Partner with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to design presentations that translate complex information into easy-to-understand learning materials
  • Support writing of short form knowledge articles, designed to provide searchable content for users seeking online support
  • Partner with the Marketing Branding Team to incorporate Mercer branding in content creation

3. Training Delivery Evaluation

  • Collaborates with team leaders to ensure they and their teams understand the training tools and resources available and how to use them
  • Support team leaders in evaluation of trainers and support a culture of continuous improvement that increases individual and organizational performance
  • Share knowledge and best practices with learning and development team

4. Supports Corporate Projects

Supports company initiatives when needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • High School degree required
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in L&D, Training, or Education required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business / Administration, Instructional Design, or other relevant degree preferred
  • Experience in Financial Services or Wealth Management strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Instruction Design, including e-Learning
  • Experience with Absorb LMS preferred
  • Experience building SharePoint site pages and / or experience managing a corporate Knowledge Base preferred
  • Must be detail oriented and possess project management skills / experience
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers and management;

ability to work with multiple departments

  • Excellent prioritization skills and the ability to handle various job duties in a fast-paced client-facing environment
  • Team player with the ability to work in a dynamic environment and adapting to the changing demands of business needs while remaining organized and driven to succeed
  • Alignment with the future strategic direction of the company and company long-term goals
  • Ability to take ownership, initiative, work independently and in a team environment.

Working Hours : Daytime hours

Working Conditions : This position may be in a professional office environment or a dedicated home office workspace that is free of interruptions.

Whether the position is in a dedicated office space or home office workspace, basic technology needs will be provided to satisfy position requirements.

Routinely sitting and standing for periods of time.
