The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role.

The Details

Our underwriters focus on two fundamental questions : Should Liberty Mutual write a policy for a particular customer? What is a fair price for the risk that we would incur by writing the policy?

Join our team and youll challenge yourself to uncover these and other answers.

As an Underwriting Trainee, youll draw upon your strong analytic, communication, and negotiation skills to understand our customers and their needs, and how to profitably accept the risks that our policies cover.

Qualifications

What youve got

  • You have 0-2 years of professional experience.
  • You hold a Bachelor's degree or degree conferred by the start of the program in June 2025 with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • You possess strong analytical, decision-making, and negotiating skills.
  • You have solid interpersonal skills and demonstrate a passion for customer service.
  • You must be willing to complete professional designation(s) and continued insurance education.
  • You must have permanent work authorization in the United States.
