NeoPhotonics is developing the highest-speed optoelectronics which are critical to make the world more connected, mobile, efficient, and accessible solutions for tomorrow in communications, cloud & cloud services, AI-enabled computing and transportation and its ecosystem, inter-satellite communications and autonomous vehicles.

Silicon photonics is a leading-edge platform that enables mass productions of communication and sensing components and NeoPhotonics has demonstrated Silicon photonics chips for coherent receiver and LiDAR applications.

The Mechanical Design Engineer defined, simulates, develops prototypes, and verifies advance optoelectronics package designs, such as gold box, BGA, , and related tester and process station for high-baud rate coherent components and modules product development.

In this role, you’ll develop models in Solidworks 3D, conduct thermal and stress simulations, test infrastructure and verify package designs, and provide ongoing product support.

You will work with the component and module design teams to enable continued advanced product development programs.

This is a critical role in terms of the introduction of advanced mechanical package design concept, product prototype, verification, cost reduction, ramp, and technology roadmap development to support NeoPhotonics’ next generation high-speed / low-cost platform requirements.

Qualifications :

  • A BS degree in Mechanical Engineering; a MS or PhD degree is preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant industry Optoelectronics and / or previous industry experience with complex mechanical design, thermal management, and / or product development for telecommunication and data center interconnect products is highly desired
  • Self-motivated and excellent oral and written English communication skills
  • Must be flexible for traveling to NeoPhotonics’ Asia and Contract Manufacturing sites during product development (10 15% of time).

The ability to secure a passport is required

Computer Skills :

  • Highly proficient with mechanical design and thermal simulation software such as Solidworks, FloTHERM, or equivalent mechanical design simulation tools
  • Basic programming skills in multiple languages (Visual Basic, C, MATLAB, etc.) to enable test scripting automation
  • Experience with data analysis software such as SAS JMP, is desirable
