We are looking for a Global Positioning System Receiver (GPS-R) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to add to our expertise in guided munitions.
This portfolio of projects operates from our Precision Guidance and Sensing Solutions (PGSS) product line in the Precision Strike Business Area.
The position will support our Market Expansion segment of the Precision Strike Business Area. This GPS-R Subject Matter Expert will help grow the PGSS product line by applying BAE Systems’ broad technology base to fill real gaps that Department of Defense customers have in the area of smart weapons.
The ideal candidate will work with Engineering Leadership and Technical Marketing to assist with the next generation of Precision Guidance Kit products, which will expand the accuracy of US Army projectile weapons system by enhancing the existing guidance system.
This role requires the candidate to be an outgoing, well-connected self-starter who will have direct customer interface to derive and shape the next generation of this portfolio in order to meet the US Government’s mission value.
The candidate must also be willing to make contributions that routinely span from direct hands-on problem solving and mentorship, to development and achieving respect in peer, customer, supplier and industry relationships, and helping to shape the long-term strategic direction and objectives of the business area and BAE as a whole through technical expertise.
BAE Systems will utilize this SME to augment the Guidance, Navigation and Control segment of the precision guidance kit in order to direct the projectile to its intended target.
We are looking for a SME that can readily communicate within the program engineering team along with the existing program team and focus on building military GPS products.
The program will use the most advanced military GPS receivers capable of using the Military-code (M-code) signal to integrating these receivers into ruggedized portable products.
BAE Systems expects to staff this role in either our Huntsville, AL; Hudson, NH or Cedar Rapids, IA facilities. There will be opportunities to support field testing of the guidance kits where our team will work side by side with its US Government counterparts.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Must hold an active DoD Secret level security clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM discipline
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with GPS technology
- Experience with GPS receiver test development and troubleshooting
- Experience with GPS receiver integration into the platform-level
- Understanding and background in RF systems architecture, modeling, design and test for guidance and navigation systems
- Experience in weapons systems design, missile systems design, or weapons systems performance analysis
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership and other engineering disciplines.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience in system architecting of solutions for guided projectiles.
- Experience in GPS-Receiver Software applications
- Familiarity with Aeronautical properties and Computational Fluid Dynamics
- Ability to Coordinate vendors and teams in development of passive / active sensor systems for test / evaluation.
- Assist in the flow down of requirements to testable modular hardware and software.
- Support trade studies, presentations, proposals and related activities
- Familiarity with low cost and low SWaP design and development
- Experience leading technical teams.
- Ability to understand and generate CONOPS.
- Develop requirements in response to customer operational needs and mature operational concepts and derive technical baselines necessary to meet the requirements.
- Develop briefings, white papers, and analysis to support the business capture efforts.
- Coordinate vendors and teams in development of passive / active sensor systems for test / evaluation
- Model Based Systems Engineering experience
- Experience working across the entire Systems Lifecycle
- Background with digital receiver architecture and digital signal processing techniques
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range : $115100 - $195700

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to : business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
