Job Summary and Qualifications

As an Inpatient Psychiatric (Behavioral Health) Registered Nurse, you are responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of the patient with a psychiatric illness.

The four Psychiatric units are Adult, Senior Adult, Adolescent and Women’s.

What you will do in this role :

You will function to seek methods to improve patient care on an ongoing basis.

You will demonstrate knowledge of regulatory law as it relates to the care of the mentally ill patient.

You will be assigned to one primary unit while also crossed trained to the other three psychiatric units with the expectation to float as needed.

You will use basic physical assessment skills and demonstrate ability to care for the patient with a co-existing psychiatric diagnosis.

What qualifications you will need :

Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multistate Registered Nurse license.

BLS Healthcare provider through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

CPI certification within 3 months of hire and re-certification every year thereafter.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN Preferred.

One year of acute care and one year of inpatient behavioral health preferred.

Located in Aurora, Colorado, The Medical Center of Aurora offers over 346 beds. It has five medical campuses, including the Main South Campus, the North Campus Behavioral Health and Wellness Center, Centennial Medical Plaza, Spalding Rehabilitation Hospital, and Spalding Rehabilitation at P / SL.

The Main Campus is a Level II Trauma Center with Primary Stroke Certification and Chest Pain Center accreditation, serving the eastern metro area and I-70 corridor.

The South Campus has a Level III NICU. The hospital consistently receives 'A' grades from The Leapfrog Group and is recognized as one of the top five hospitals in the Denver metro area and the fourth-best hospital in Colorado by U.S. News & World Report.
