We are looking for a Coding Manager to join our growing team! The Coding Manager coordinates coding activities - administrative and operational - across ClearSky Health, in accordance with established standards, policies, procedures, regulatory and legal requirements. This position is remote.
Essential Functions
- Coordinates coding processes in relation to day-to-day activities and codes for facilities as identified.
- Supervises and trains staff to ensure that the hospital receives appropriate reimbursement and conforms to applicable guidelines and regulations.
- Ensures that medical coding within the Hospital is conducted in compliance with Federal, State, and payer regulations, guidelines, and requirements.
- Provides advice and assistance to senior management in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of modifications to medical coding.
- Serves as coding resource and subject matter expert. Serves as coding consultant to care providers.
- Audits clinical documentation and coded data to validate documentation supports services rendered for reimbursement and reporting purposes.
- Provides, oversees, and / or coordinates the provision of training for new and existing coding staff on applicable coding policies, protocols, systems and procedures, standards, and techniques.
- Ensures field working knowledge of government current prospective payment system and ensures facility compliance.
Minimum Job Requirements
Minimum Education & Experience
- Five years' recent experience in healthcare coding required.
- Two years in Medical Records preferred.
- Associates degree in related field preferred.
- Experience in a management role preferred.
Required Licenses, Certifications, and / or Documentation
- AAPC or AHIMA coding certification required.
- Must maintain acceptable driving record, current driver's license, and insurability.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge in ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding required.
- Demonstrates an understanding of treatment costs and financial support as they relate to quality and efficiency.
- Knowledge of Medicare's PPS guidelines preferred.
- Knowledge of privacy regulations, such as HIPAA.
- Ability to travel as needed
