Job Summary

Job Description General Summary

Independently consults and collaborates with investigators on the design, conduct, and analysis of research projects which may include laboratory, interventional and observational studies.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides statistical expertise on the design of study case report forms and databases.
  • Responsible for statistical aspects of study design, including sample size calculations and randomization schemes.
  • Select appropriate statistical methods and to analyze data including identifying data inconsistencies from laboratory, interventional, and observational studies.
  • Proficiency in working with standard statistical packages e.g., SAS, R, Stata, SPSS and learning other project specific software.
  • Code is accurate, efficient, well commented and organized.
  • Participates in meetings with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Prepares statistical reports and collaborates with study team to prepare abstracts and manuscripts.
  • Communicates appropriately, timely, and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Able to understand the objectives of a study and ensure that the statistical design matches the overall goals of the study.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in working with standard statistical packages (e.g., SAS, R, Stata, SPSS) and learning other project-specific software.
  • Independently develops and implements macros / functions / routines and code to implement new and existing methods.
  • Provides statistical expertise on the design of study case report forms and databases.
  • Independently reviews case report forms and database design to ensure that the data are collected and coded in a way that can be analyzed.
  • Provides guidance to research teams on appropriate statistical methods as well as other project management tasks that influence the analysis,.
  • Participates in meetings with multidisciplinary team.
  • Independently identifies statistical action items, develops timelines and gathers information about competing projects deadlines.
  • Capable of managing statistical deliverables for multiple projects.
  • Prepares statistical reports and collaborates with study team to prepare abstracts and manuscripts.
  • Independently checks manuscripts for numerical accuracy, writes statistical methods section, reviews results section for consistency with data analysis findings, and reviews conclusions to ensure interpretations are consistent with statistical results.
  • Select appropriate statistical methods and to analyze data.
  • Independently conducts basic analysis but needs oversight with more complex analyses.
  • Capable of explaining methods and analysis results to investigators.
  • Responsible for statistical aspects of study design, including sample size calculations and randomization schemes.
  • Independently designs basic studies.
  • Able to meet independently with investigators to obtain necessary information for design.
  • Capable of explaining designs to clinical and laboratory investigators.
  • Able to identify flaws and identify inconsistencies in the grant research proposal.
  • Capable of participating in the orientation of new staff and providing education to research colleagues.
  • Capable of directing the work of junior staff on basic design and analytic methods.
  • Able to understand the objectives of a study and ensure that the statistical design matches the overall goals of the study.
  • Independently able to determine the accuracy of the sample size and power calculations in the statistical section.
  • Able to identify flaws and identify inconsistencies in the protocol.
  • Capable of teaching basic analytic methods and statistical programming.

Requirements :

  • Master's Degree in Statistics or biostatistics. Other quantitative fields (eg., epidemiology, economics, data sciences) can be considered depending on coursework and experience.
  • 5 years of relatable experience.
