Under the direction of the building administrative team and / or classroom teacher performs a wide variety of tasks related to safety programs.
Provides instructional / clerical support and student supervision inside and outside before, during and after school. Extended lunchtime and recess supervision.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS : Minimum AA degree or equivalent or passed PRAXIS test required. Bilingual / Bi-literate (English / Spanish) required , knowledge of Guided Language Acquisition Design( GLAD) or willingness to learn.
Good communication skills and ability to follow written and oral directions. Experience teaching social skills to students is preferred.
Experience working with students with extreme behaviors preferred. Comfortable with managing large groups of students. Patient, flexible, self-motivated, positive social skills and a calm personality.
Ability to relate well to students, parents and staff. May require prolonged sitting or standing. Wear appropriate clothing for climate and weather during recess.
Attendance and punctuality are important functions of this position.
