Associate Real Estate Project Coordinator

Job Summary

Support the implementation of redevelopment projects, programs, and initiatives. Coordinate small-scale real estate development projects and assist with large, complex redevelopment projects.

Develop and conduct community and stakeholder outreach.

This is a full-time, regular, exempt non-union position. The schedule for this position is M-F, 8 : 00am to 5 : 00pm.

Job Details

Essential Functions :

  • Support senior staff in developing and implementing large-scale redevelopment projects, such as conducting research, collecting and analyzing data, and writing reports in support of large projects such as , , and .
  • Lead development and implementation of small-scale redevelopment projects.
  • Prepare or assist with grant applications. Coordinate with other technical staff to draft project narratives, develop exhibits such as graphs / charts, tables;

solicit letters of support from partners; and coordinate with city staff to develop project plans.

Develop and conduct outreach including online and in person community events, focus groups, stakeholder interviews, surveys, presentations to developers, neighborhoods, and community organizations.

Work with City Communications to develop websites, social media campaigns, informational materials, and other communication strategies.

Utilize an equity lens in developing materials and engagement activities, including culturally responsive outreach to Disadvantaged, Minority-Owned, Women-Owned, Emerging Small Businesses, Service-Disabled Veterans Business Enterprises (D / M / W / ESB / SDVBE) communities.

Attend neighborhood business meetings and other community meetings and events, business group meetings, and City Council meetings as required

Assist senior staff in preparing for and responding to City Council communications and inquiries from community members and the media.

Present recommendations, projects and / or updates to City executives, staff, public agencies, City boards and commissions, and City Council in a public meeting format.

  • Effectively respond to project work assignments or tasks assigned by the Department’s two Real Estate Project Mangers, Deputy Director, or Director.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience and Education :

  • Two (2) years in urban planning, real estate development, or economic development.
  • A bachelor's degree in business, real estate, public administration, urban planning, and related fields, or the equivalent through industry certifications and / or professional work experience.

Computer Skills :

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Power Point, Word, Excel, and Outlook

Required Licenses and / or Certifications :

Possession of :

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license.

Knowledge :

  • Basic knowledge of professional concepts in economic development, redevelopment, and urban planning.
  • Basic knowledge of project management.
  • Basic Knowledge of economic development practices and programs.
  • Pertinent federal, state, and local laws that pertain to :
  • Facilitating public meetings
  • Housing and the financing of government land and real estate projects
  • Sustainable development and environmental requirements
  • Modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment
  • Use of personal computers and basic software

Abilities

  • Ability to work independently at times, with minimal oversight from a supervisor.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral communications.
  • Receive mentoring and coaching from colleagues in more senior positions or from supervisor.
  • Interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse variety of internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Operate a personal computer and appropriate software
  • Work in a manner consistent with the City of Vancouver’s Operating Principles
  • Work and act as a team player in all interactions with other City employees
  • Provide a high level of customer service at all times
  • Project and maintain a positive image with those contacted in the course of work
  • Develop and maintain collaborative and respectful working relationships with team members and others
