GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Collect past due amounts and resolve disputes on assigned accounts. Perform administrative duties and data entry related to credit and collection activities.
Duties include receiving payment and posting amount to customer’s account and keeping records of collection and status of accounts.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Confer with the branches and customers by telephone to determine reasons for overdue payments and to review the terms of sales, service or credit contracts.
- Locate and notify customers of delinquent accounts by mail and telephone in order to solicit payment.
- Negotiate payment arrangements with existing customers. Inform customers and branch managers of hold actions in a timely manner.
- Record information about the financial status of customers and the status of collection efforts.
- Participate in credit decisions regarding new and existing accounts.
- Perform credit investigations.
- Research and resolve customer disputes.
- Recommend accounts to be placed with collection agency.
- Perform various administrative functions for assigned accounts, such as recording address changes.
- Set up and maintain account maintenance files.
- Sort and file correspondence and perform miscellaneous administrative duties such as answering correspondence and writing reports.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
Associate’s Degree in Business Administration or Finance.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 1 year experience in accounting; 2-3 years experience in collections preferred.
- Intermediate to advanced user knowledge of Microsoft Windows XP components, including Microsoft Outlook.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The performance of this position may require exposure to the warehouse areas where certain areas may require the use of personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes and safety glasses.
The primary environment is characterized by ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment found in a typical office environment.
