SMS Staffing Is Hiring Immediately for Facilities Maintenance Assistants!   JOB TITLE :

  • Facilities Maintenance Assistant (Environmental Waste) JOB LOCATION : North Chicago, IL JOB TYPE :   Temp to Hire PAY :   $18-20 / HOUR 1st SHIFT :  7 : 00 am - 3 : 30 pm (Monday - Friday)   Job Summary for Facilities Maintenance Assistant Role : SMS Staffing is seeking Facilities Maintenance Assistants to support environmental and building maintenance operations in a fast-paced industrial setting.
  • This hands-on role involves working both indoors and outdoors with exposure to various environmental conditions.

Job Duties :

  • Pump and remove rainwater and contaminated water from pits
  • Operate forklifts and move totes safely
  • Power wash pits, drains, equipment and collect water samples, as needed
  • Perform building maintenance (repairs, cleaning, inspections)
  • Assist with snow removal
  • Push, pull and move pails, drums, totes, etc, using various means
  • Assist in data entry of sample records, hazardous waste records, etc.  Qualification Requirements :
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Basic math, writing, and reading skills
  • Basic building maintenance skills are  a must
  • Forklift experience, preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license   Special Circumstances of the Job :
  • Able to operate power and hand tools, including : pressure washer, floor scrubber, and work with pumps.
  • Lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs)
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment (e.g., respirators, gloves, acid suit, goggles, steel-toe work boots, face shield, etc.)
  • Able to work outdoors during inclement weather
  • Able to climb, stoop, and stand for long periods of time Come join the SMS team!
