The Employment Coordinator provides employment services to newly arrived refugees and other eligible immigrant through the federally funded Matching Grant (MG) and State funded Refugee Support Services (RSS) programs.

The Coordinator cultivates and maintains relationships with employers, conducts job readiness training, places refugees in jobs, and provides post-employment follow-up services.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Develop and maintain positive ongoing relationships with a variety of local companies who hire refugees
  • Expand employer base for refugee job placements
  • Work with clients to prepare them for employment, including :
  • Basic job skills training (e.g. workplace expectations, communication, etc.)
  • Orientation to culture and expectations of work in the United States
  • Counseling clients about benefits of early employment
  • Work with Employment Team and client case managers to creatively address barriers to self-sufficiency
  • Assist clients through process of applying for employment
  • Conduct regular follow-up with clients and employers after job placement to address areas of concern and ensure continued employment
  • Maintain accurate and timely case files and data recording for all program services, as required by the MG and RSS program guidelines
  • Document contacts with clients and employers, reporting on progress as necessary
  • Other related tasks as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Advanced cross-cultural fluency
  • Fluent in English with strong oral and written skills
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Advanced proficiency MS Office in programs and experience with data management
  • Detail oriented and able to juggle multiple tasks and demands
  • Enjoy working in a fast paced, challenging, and multi-cultural environment.
  • Able to work well with others in a professional, friendly, and flexible manner.
  • Ability to problem solve independently and improve office functions independently

Requirements

  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm and / or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs , Statement of Faith , Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 6 month's minimum professional experience in employment services or case management
  • Valid driver's license and ability to transport clients to appointments required
  • Excellent problem solving skills and excellent communication skills
  • Able to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations

  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information.
  • The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

  • General office setting. World Relief also offers hybrid and remote schedules for limited positions.
  • Great lengths of time working on computer, reading from computer screen, entering information, standing at copier or fax machine, and some time on the phone or in virtual meetings may be required.
  • Year-end archiving activities involve repeated lifting and bending.
